CHAPTER 1
"Misty Hurts her Foot"

Misty is special kind of possum known as the Greater Glider Possum. She lives high up in the tree tops of the Eucalyptus Forests of Secret Gully. She doesn't like being on the ground very much, so when she moves from tree to tree she spreads out her arms and legs and glides.

Misty lives in Secret Gully which is a beautiful valley set in the granite mountains of Eastern Australia. Running through the middle of Secret Gully is a sparkling creek where the water tumbles over little waterfalls and bubbles through smooth granite rocks.

Misty has many friends who also live in Secret Gully. Nibbles the Koala also lives in the Eucalyptus Forest and eats nothing but Eucalyptus Leaves. Eucalyptus leaves are very strong tasting and not many animals eat them. But Nibbles loves them.

Spike the Echidna doesn't like eucalyptus leaves at all. Spike loves ants and spends most of his life poking around old bits of wood on the forest floor looking for them. Spike has very sharp spines sticking out all over his body, so nobody ever tries to boss him about.

Bounce the Wallaroo also lives in Secret Gully. He eats grass and flowers and sleeps in the shady forest. Bounce is not as big as a kangaroo but bigger than a wallaby. He can hop very fast when he wants to but generally moves around Secret Gully in a very relaxed manner.

Misty has many other friends in Secret Gully who you will also meet. In fact Secret Gully is a very friendly sort of place and everyone is always willing to lend a hand if you need any help.
